The Mask-wa Transportation Association (MTA) Inc. Board has been meeting regularly. The Board is considering how best to move forward now that the rail line between Sault Ste. Marie and Oba has been sold to Watco and the CN line between Oba and Hearst is being retained by CN. Chief Gauthier has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Missanabie Cree and Watco and he continues to communicate with that company and CN frequently.
The MTA Inc. Board is currently working with Jeronamo Solutions to develop a marketing plan and strategy based on feedback from the marketing survey which is being conducted. The Business Plan which was developed and revised will be updated to include the Marketing Plan and other necessary changes. The new Business Plan will be provided to potential funders. The MTA Inc. Board is exploring various options for operating funding for weekend only service. Once that funding is secured, additional funding can be accessed for other expenses, such as equipment and staff.
